You can choose from two pricing plans that start from $26 to $40 per month. Also you have 14 days free trial account to test this website builder.
Registration process is very fast, you just need to provide basic information – password, email, site name (URL) and immediately you get into the editor.
There’s a quick introduction that you have to go through before you’re granted access to the admin panel. You land on a default template and thus I recommend you to go to “Style” menu and select some suitable one before you do anything.
Squarespace Templates
Squarespace has a large collection of templates and they are well designed and have different color schemes, almost all template layouts can be used for an online store. It’s not very handy to choose the template because you need to click on each thumbnail to see the template in actual size.
Builder
Editor’s shell is represented by a toolbar at the top and black shortcuts next to each block which allow to edit them separately: add and edit text, insert images, videos, HTML codes, slide shows.
Squarespace Editor
Squarespace’s editor doesn’t support drag and drop function, all editing takes place in the editor’s window. But you are allowed to fully change the layout of your website: number of columns and their positions. It has four modes – content editing, structure editing, style editing and preview mode.
Squarespace allows you to add widgets to the sidebar. The choice is large enough: links, Amazon item list, social links, text/HTML blocks, etc.
Also it has some nice features for blogging – captcha, RSS, trackback, categories, tags, etc. The only thing that I have not found is a scheduling option. Also it has an interesting and unique feature – Blog Importing, with this feature you can easily transfer (import) everything from your WordPress, Blogger, Typepad, or Movable Type blog.
With Squarespace you will get everything that you need for SEO: page titles, meta description, URL’s, alt tags.
Also if you are familiar with coding you can easily edit CSS code of your website to make it more customized.
To track your visitors Squarespace providea built in analytic tool with a fairly good functionality.
Squarespace offers two plans that feature an eCommerce solution, Basic at $26/mo and Advanced at $40/mo
Support:
Squarespace provides 24/7 ticket system with 15-minute response time (as stated on their website). You have also access to video tutorials and FAQ database.
Conclusion:
Squarespace provides great opportunities for non-technical online entrepreneurs who want to get a fancy looking store with a few clicks and without headache of coding. We recommend this eCommerce website builder as a nice and more customizable alternative to Jimdo and Wix store builders. However, this eCommerce website builder is less suitable for expanding eCommerce business because of lack of built-in functionality.
